Instructions to make Gatta curry:
  1. Mix all the ingredient given for dough in a bowl. Add little water if needed and make it into a soft dough. Now cover it and let it rest for 15 mins. Make small logs from it.
  2. Heat apprx 10 cups of water and add a tbsp of oil in it and bring to boil. Now add logs in the boiling water and boil it for 10 min on high flame or until it changes it's colour and cooked properly. When cooked take it out of the pan. (Don't throw the water, it will be used for making curry.)
  3. When it cools down cut into small pcs. Now take 4 tbsp oil in a wok. Heat the oil till hot and then put all the boiled gattas in it and fry on high till they turn golden and crispy in colour.
  4. For curry : - Take oil in kadai and heat it. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let it sizzle for a min.
  5. Add crushed garlic and fry for few seconds. Add chopped onions and cook it till golden.
  6. Now take tomatoes and green chillies in a mixer and beat it to a smooth puree. Add this puree in wok with fried onions and cook it till the raw smell of tomatoes are gone.
  7. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala and kasuri methi. Mix well. Add little water which we have preserved. Cook it for some time.
  8. Now in a bowl mix curd and besan and add it in kadai. Add more water. (adjust it acc.to your liking of the curry). Mix it.
  9. Now boil the curry and then add gattas in it and cook for 7-8 mins.till the masala mix well with gattas. Now switch off the flame and close the lid for 5 min.
  10. Take it out and put it in a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot.
